The FireTEAM Practice Test will help you become familiar with the FireTEAM Test format. The FireTEAM Test is designed such that you should be able to do well without prior experience or training. However, many people find that a practice test reduces test anxiety, making it easier for you to demonstrate your true ability on the FireTEAM Testing System. This is not a study guide.
The FireTEAM Testing System was developed to measure specific aptitudes of firefighter applicants. There are three components to the FireTEAM Testing System, including human relations, mechanical aptitude, reading and math ability. All test items were developed through rigorous research with dozens of panels of experienced firefighting professionals. You don’t need experience to answer the questions in this test; common sense is always your best guide.
Many departments use the FireTEAM Testing System, however, this does not mean that they use all portions of the testing system. This practice test includes all portions of the testing system, but ultimately it is up to the specific department as to which components they utilize.
There are two ways to purchase the FireTEAM Practice Test:
1) Online / Streaming Video
If you have a high speed internet connection such as cable or DSL, the cost of a password for the online FireTEAM Practice Test is $22.95.
2) Online / CD-ROM Video
If you have a dial up connection of 56k or slower, we recommend that you purchase a password and the companion CD-ROM for $24.95, plus shipping and handling. It is the same online practice test, but the video segments load much faster. To see if you would do better with the companion CD-ROM, play the sample question. If the video takes a long time to download or stops frequently when playing, then you should buy the online/CD-ROM option.
Each option buys you a password that is good for taking the FireTEAM Practice Test twice.

Your computer must be multimedia capable with audio speakers. The streaming video should play well with a DSL or cable internet connection. The Practice Test only works with Microsoft Internet Explorer.
56k or slower modems are not fast enough to stream the video. If you have a dial up connection and purchase the companion CD-ROM, you must have an operating CD-ROM player.

This is a video-based test of teamwork and human relations skills specifically designed for firefighters. You will watch a video segment, then choose the best and worst course of action in a multiple-choice format.
ErgoMechanical Animated Aptitude Test
Mechanical aptitude is measured by troubleshooting an animated factory. You will watch a video segment, then choose the best course of action in a multiple-choice format.
FireTEAM Reading Test
This test is designed specifically for firefighters, a job requiring on-going study of difficult and technical materials. This will be an online version of a paper and pencil test.
FireTEAM Math Test
In this video based segment, you will be asked to make the kind of quick calculations firefighters must do every day. No paper and pencil, you will do this math “in your head”.
